I am a University of Arizona Global Campus student pursuing my bachelor's degree in early childhood education. I have always been passionate about working with children and helping them develop into the best versions of themselves. I am nurturing, supportive, patient, kind, empathetic, creative, and flexible. I am always willing to think of, learn about, and try new approaches to help a child reach their “aha” moment. For me, that is one of the most rewarding moments as an educator.
Early childhood is a significant time in a child’s life. The largest and fastest brain growth occurs during this period. "Throughout early childhood, the neural pathways of the brain continue to develop at a rapid rate and become denser and more efficient as children have more sensory and interpersonal experiences. By age 6, a child's brain is at almost 90% of its adult size, although it will continue to develop throughout the life span (Huisman, S., Estes, L. S., & Krogh, S. L.,2024)". Children are eager and excited to learn about the world around them. During this time, we as educators have the opportunity and responsibility to positively impact each child’s life and how they will succeed throughout their education and beyond. A high-quality early childhood education program can make a positive difference in a child’s academic and social life, as well as economically, into adulthood.
As an administrator, I am responsible for using my education and knowledge, as well as the knowledge of a qualified, educated staff, to align our program with the most current research and best practices in early childhood development to ensure a high-quality program for each child, family, and staff member. This requires implementation and accountability to policies, procedures, and guidelines addressing health, safety, nutrition, staff qualifications, and continual improvement. My duty is to make decisions, changes, and improvements that are in the best interest of the children and families that we serve while maintaining a qualified, satisfied, and stable staff.
